Verse 1
There was a man
Who claimed that He is Christ
And yet in all His majesty
He chose to suffer and die
But we never realized that by His death
He brought us life
Life for all of us, life eternal.
Chorus
So tell the poor that there is hope
Go tell the captives that they’re free
For Christ has died upon the cross
And claimed for us His victory
Go tell the blind that they can see
Go tell the oppressed of their liberty
For Christ has risen from the dead
And claimed for us eternal glory
Verse 2
As we carry our cross
Let us all remember
Christ who suffered and died
But now reigns forever
There is light beyond the darkness
There is hope beyond despair
Look beyond the cross
And you’ll find happiness
Chorus
So tell the poor that there is hope
Go tell the captives that they’re free
For Christ has died upon the cross
And claimed for us His victory
Go tell the blind that they can see
Go tell the oppressed of their liberty
For Christ has risen from the dead
And claimed for us eternal glory
Verse 3
So tell the poor that there is hope
Go tell the captives that they’re free
For Christ has died upon the cross
And claimed for us His victory
Go tell the blind that they can see
Go tell the oppressed of their liberty
For Christ has risen from the dead
And claimed for us eternal glory
And claimed for us eternal glory
And claimed for us eternal glory
